Teacher Training on Ubuntu Cycle

Ubuntu Cycle Project

The road is a great leveler!  We all use the road regardless of our colour, religion, social status or address!  The Ubuntu Cycle Project, delivered  in partnership with London Cycle Training is not simply about cycle training but about training for life.
Combining practical cycle training and skills building with reflections on the role and responsibility of pupils as cyclists and citizens in the community, this 6 week course has been integrated into the curriculum of a number of London schools in deprived and divided communities.  Working collaboratively and exploring new ideas, young people from different backgrounds look at themes such as conflict and anger management whilst breaking down stereotypes and building relationships with each other.

Pupils leave with a greater sense of self-worth, confidence and respect for others, equipped with the skills and attitudes to build peace in their communities and on their roads.  They are also encouraged to work together to establish a local Bike Club as part of the national Bike Club network.
