Leighanne and Karon's story


Leighanne, 16, had been excluded from school for almost three years; Karon, in her mid-40s, has a serious medical condition and is confined to a wheelchair. Conversations for Change created a safe space in which they could talk about their experiences, listen to people they would not normally engage with, and begin to understand each other. Read more

 

Making their Mark in Hackney


Aysha was only 14 when she came to the Conversations for Change workshops run by the Tutu Foundation UK.  From a Muslim family of Pakistani origin she was born and brought up in Hackney in East London.  "Hackney gets a lot of bad press," she admitted, "it's easy to say 'oh this community's bad.'  But what are you prepared to do?  It's no good just complaining about it."
