Conversations for Change
The Conversations for Change programme works in areas of social tension across the UK, bringing together community members of all ages, faiths, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds to build robust skills to negotiate anger, conflict and difference. By the end of each four-day programme, the 20 plus participants also develop projects to engage the wider community in peace-building and cohesion activities.
Sessions are dynamic, fun and interactive, using innovative facilitation techniques that quickly break down barriers as participants share common experiences, concerns and visions. The programme employs techniques used by Archbishop Tutu in South Africa and Northern Ireland, in particular, the concept of ubuntu, which emphasises our common humanity.
Conversations for Change has run in Cumbria, Tyneside, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, East and West Midlands and in four London boroughs, and in each area the positive impact has been clearly demonstrated, not least through the projects developed by the participants. |
